Emily's nursery school "graduation"

Emily had her nursery school "graduation" this week. It was so adorable. Her teacher is so wonderful. She is in a culturally diverse program in the school where I teach. Half of the children in the class speak Spanish as their primary language, therefore the staff speak both English and Spanish. Emily has learned so much Spanish this year. The Spanish speaking children have learned a lot of English too!!! Her teacher has all culturally diverse materials and toys in the class. The theme for graduation was focused on the different cultures that the children come from. They sang "It's a Small World" and various songs in both English and Spanish. Emily got up in front of everyone and read a poem....so cute!! At one point each child had to stand in front of the audience and tell us their name, their culture, show us their flag (on their shirt) and tell us what they want to be when they grow up. Emily did great....and she wants to be a "ballet teacher" when she grows up. As her teacher said so well.....our children's futures are bright. There is no limit with what they can become.

Emily, I hope and pray that you will be happy and successful in WHATEVER you choose, sweet girl. You will make a beautiful ballet teacher if that is what you want to be.

As a side note, last month, Emily wanted to be "Pooh Bear" when she grows up....so one never knows............
